Caring for Your Cutout

Every piece leaves our workshop sealed and ready for the weather, but a little yearly love goes a long way outdoors.

The Yearly Top-Up

Once a year — we like to do it just before the season starts — brush a fresh layer of Mod Podge (or any quality outdoor decoupage/weatherproof sealant) over the front, back and sides of your piece. It only takes a few minutes, dries clear, and is what keeps the paint bright and the MDF protected through rain, sun and everything our Aussie weather throws at it.

  • Make sure the piece is clean and completely dry before sealing.
  • Use a wide, soft brush and apply an even, thin coat — thick coats can drip and dry cloudy.
  • Don't forget the edges and the back, not just the painted face.
  • Let it dry fully (a few hours in the shade) before putting it back outside.
